Internship

Berkeley Community Media Internship Application

The internship at Berkeley Community Media offers a unique opportunity to gain hands on experience in all aspects of working in a professional television station. The program requires interns to commit to one or more shifts a week for twenty weeks. During this time interns will receive free training in producing, directing, camera operations, lighting and sound for both studio and location shooting. In addition, interns are welcome to join free of charge, special classes in on-camera performance/hosting, rock video production and short-form narrative film making. Interns are given a fifty-percent discount on the editing class in Final Cut Pro X.

The program is open to all persons over the age of 13 and no prior experience is required, though we do welcome broadcasting/film students and those skilled in T.V/film production. We are looking for persons who have a professional work ethic and can collaborate with a diverse group of dedicated broadcasters and artists. Interns will be required to learn and assist in the many roles needed to run and produce content for a professional television station. The Intern will be required to produce three projects for Berkeley Community Media. A 30 second commercial for our institution, a short program in our small, “Express Studio” and a short program in our Big Studio. In addition, interns receive close mentoring on developing their projects related to storytelling and production. Often interns use the opportunity to build connections and skills needed for their own independent or school projects.

Berkeley Community Media welcomes all persons and in no way discriminates on the bases of race, color, gender, gender identification, sexual orientation/identification, religion (or non-religion), level of education, learning differences, disabilities or citizenship status. BCM is a scent free work place and we respectfully thank you for your cooperation and understanding.
